Mardi Gras LEAP Event

Our LEAP girls had a great time at the Mardi Gras LEAP event this past weekend.   It was the first time that our girls got to wear their new LEAP suits, and for a lot of the girls it was their first time testing at a different gym.

Day 1 - Physical Testing:  It was great to see all the improvements that the girls have made from previous testings.  The girls loved that they received beads every time they got full points on a skill.  Congrats to Bella, Samantha J., and Chrizel for passing Copper Physical.

Day 2 - Skills Testing:  Day 2 was another great day for Capital City.  For lots of the girls it was their very first time testing their Skills component, and everyone did great.  Congrats to Brooklyn L., and Katie L. for passing Bronze Skills.  And good work to Bella and Cathrine B. for earning their Copper Pins.

Thanks Dana Bouliane for the following great pics:

The 2012 Alberta Winter Games were in Stony Plain, Spruce Grove and Parkland County February 9-12, 2012.  More than 2,800 athletes, coaches, officials, and performers participated in the Games, competing in a variety of sports in and around the tri municipal region. From our gym Alex Jelinski (P4) and Brooklynn Hyland (P2) were on the Zone 6 artistic gymnastics teams. The games were a great experience for our girls to be able to compete and stay together in teams.

Brooklynn's P2 Zone 6 Team earned Bronze in the Team Competition.  Brookylnn had a fantastic floor routine and was 2nd on floor on Day 1.  Brooklynn made floor Event Finals.  Way to go Brooklynn!

Think Pink Campaign Update

I am excited to announce that we have exceeded our Think Pink Goal of raising $5,500!  Capital City's women's competitive team will be able to present the Pink Invitational with a breast cancer donation of $7,000.  I cannot thank all the girls, parents, and staff enough for all their efforts and time on behalf of this campaign.  I am extremely grateful for all the hard work that has gone into raising this large sum of money.  Capital City is not going to stop our Think Pink campaign here, but will continue to raise money for this important cause.  It is for Kristi and for all those we know and love that we will continue to "Think Pink".

Please visit our website for full up to date details on our Think Pink Campaign.

FEB 4th BAKE SALE - LAST CHANCE TO RAISE MONEY FOR THINK PINK!!!

We are going to have another Think Pink Bake Sale on Sat, Feb 4th from 9:00-2:00pm.  Most of us are away at Exelta, but the girls not competing at Exelta have volunteered to run the bake sale.  We are encouraging every family going to the Pink Invitational or any families wanting to help to bring in some treats to sell on Saturday morning.

Our Pink Invitational Breast Cancer donations have to mailed on Monday, February 6th.  We are very close to $5000 and we would love to be one of the top three fundraising teams. The Above and Beyond Team Challenge Agreement states that:

Each team that donates $500 or more, above the usual entry and associated meet fees, will receive a complimentary half-page team picture in the 2012 Pink Invitational program and will be entered in the Above & Beyond Team Challenge. All teams participating in the challenge will receive special recognition at the event, and the six teams with the highest donations will receive an award. Also in 2012, Unite for HER/Pink Invitational will make a donation to hospital breast cancer centers chosen by the top three fundraising teams. --- We would choose The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation

Our girls have worked so hard to raise funds for Breast Cancer research and it would be exciting to be one of the top three teams. The meet director has revealed that the top teams this year have raised over $5000.  We are going to do one last push to raise as much as we can.

Thank you for your help in this matter.
